"Silence is Violence" absently depicts identity-based violence through sparse, silent vocals.

“Silenced, Silencer” was inspired by a dream I had years ago amidst the rise of Black Lives Matter. In the dream, I played this song’s dissonant piano chords in a sterile white room, right before witnessing a Black man get shot inside a warehouse in the middle of the woods. The white male murderer then fired his gun at me as I plead mercy, causing me to awaken. I remember feeling the bullet pass through me painlessly, as I started to awaken and was briefly in a mental state between the dreamworld & waking life.

This song is written between two perspectives: the “SILENCED” and the “SILENCER”, depicting the two forces amidst the battlefield of racial violence and justice.

Recording this song was challenging when switching between the two voices, especially when recording the “SILENCER”. The song asked me to channel a demonic, gritty tone that slightly damaged my throat for a few hours.
